After numerous occasions this past month I've decided to post a bit about the misconception that my girls are some how "doodles" or "mutts."
Multi-colored poodles have been around for a very long time, in fact there are paintings from the 1700's that illustrate the presence of the multi-colored poodle. Beyond that no one knows how far back the multi-colored poodle goes; but there are images of the proto-poodle on Roman coins and other items, so who knows! (Actually, I'm sure genetics will probably let us get an answer for this sooner or later.) However you want to decipher the information, the point is made that multi-colored poodles have been around for a long time.
Multi-colored poodles are produced by a recessive gene, and are indeed full blooded poodles, not a mix!
