We are waiting till the end of February for an ultrasound to hopefully confirm Violet's breeding to Indigo was a success. I would like to share a wonderful resource for those who have kids and dogs, or are planning on adding a dog to a family with kids. The amount of videos posted online, or pictures posted on social media that show dogs in distress around kids is very alarming. Please remember that although kids and children can be wonderful friends, it is a relationship that needs to be closely monitored to protect your children and your canine companions. As a family that has children school aged and a baby, we know this first hand and always make sure everyone is in safe situations. Here are some websites that are great resources for those with kids and dogs. I’ve searched around and found these 4 websites that are food resources. Why 4 websites? Because I know that everyone has different ways of processing information, and these site are different in how the present that information.
I selected this page for the great list of warning signs from your dog, the rest of the site is also great. Look under bite prevention for more tips. https://www.doggonesafe.com/Signs_of_Anxiety
Here is a good resource that has some great basic advice https://www.safekidssafedogs.com/index.html
This site has great information and wonderfully fun videos for kids to watch themselves. http://stopthe77.com/
The last website I’m going to list is that of Dr.Sophia Yin, she has some great basic advice but I love her graphics which I am posing below for you. https://drsophiayin.com/blog/entry/kids-and-dogs-how-kids-should-and-should-not-interact-with-dogs/
Karen of Winters Wind Standard Poodles was super awesome and sent photos of Violet and Indigo together yesterday! We are so thankful that Violet has been so well taken care of on her trip, she's had lots of land to run around on, playdates, and walks! (And romancing from the handsome Indigo ;-) )
Kate and Dave's updates on the girls!
