Supplies That Every Poodle Owner Should Own

You need a slicker brush like the one on the right that has long and firm pins to get through thick poodle hair.
We found ours on Amazon for around $17.

You will also need a greyhound comb, which is basically a large stainless steel comb that has a fine and coarse section. This means that the pins are closer together on one side of the comb than the other. We found ours on Amazon for around $20.

You will need to trim your dogs nails frequently, most dogs need their nail clipped every week to keep them short and healthy. This can vary from dog to dog, but most need weekly trims. You can pay some one, but at the average cost of $10 a trim, that can get expensive!
We recommend Dremeling nails, but some owners and dogs prefer old school clippers.
We got our clippers at Amazon they run from $10 and up.
I personally love my Dremel Micro, it is light weight and has a rechargeable battery. It too is available on Amazon. The model I have runs around $150, but is some times on sale on Amazon for less.

For those who want to do their own grooming

You will want to get a high velocity dryer for your poodle grooming. You can choose a dryer that is not mounted on a stand and has a nozzle you must hold. Or you can choose a stand dryer that has a nozzle that you can aim at your dog and have your hands free.
We have a K9 I that we use that has two speeds, which is great for sensitive areas. Amazon sells them, as well as other dealers. They usually run around $400.

For a stand dryer we have heard great things about Flying Pig, it also has two speeds and is availible online through dealers and Amazon has it for about $300,

You will want to also buy clippers for your poodle's grooming.
We like having two sets of clippers for different uses.
We use a Wahl Arco for feet, and faces. It is a great tool since it is cordless and has a 5-in-1 blade.

We then use a corded clipper with different length blades for the body of the poodles. We like the Andis ultra edge.

Shampoo and Conditioner

There are several quality shampoos and conditioners available for you to wash your poodle.
Here at Fireside we personally have only used K9 Competition Coat Care. I know it is pricey but the quality is amazing and the product does last for a long time as you are purchasing a concentrated product that you dilute to use. This product is only available in the United States through a wholesale retailer. We order from Linda Smith.
We mostly use the Aloe Vera Shampoo and Conditioner.
